We began our band alumni group on October 7, 2016 when about 60 band alumni came together for a reunion party. Now, nearly a year and a half later, we number over 200 band alumni and are getting ready to award a $500 scholarship to a deserving Edison band senior, maybe two! We’ve established a bank account, are collecting dues, will soon have our own website and we’re getting ready to adopt a constitution and by-laws that we can use to guide us as we grow.
Alumni band members will automatically be placed in the Association once they pay their lifetime dues. With the dues we have already collected, we have enough to award our first scholarship. We’re hoping to be able to award a second scholarship once more dues are paid, band cups are sold, and we conclude the Scholarship Fundraiser at Big Bob’s.
Right now, we are led by a Leadership Team that will soon become Officers of the Edison Band Alumni Association, or EBAA. With the adoption of a constitution and by-laws, we’ll have a more professional look. Association members will be able to participate on committees, be allowed access to our website, be invited to our Annual Meeting, and be allowed to vote.
The Leadership Team has agreed on the mission statement outlined on the following page and we wanted to share it with you now.
